hello there, mortal —

Death comes with enough unknowns. Let’s make the practical parts less surprising.

A grounded local resource for death, dying, and grief in Campbell River and the Comox Valley.

What is deathcare?

Deathcare is bigger than funerals.

Deathcare is everything that surrounds dying, death and grief. It includes the conversations we have before someone dies, the decisions we make, the care we receive, what happens to our bodies, how we say goodbye, and how we live with loss afterward.

You might be here because you’re…

A gentle introduction

Deathcare begins long before a death.

Deathcare is not only what happens in the days after someone dies. It is the paperwork you sort out on an ordinary afternoon, the conversation over dinner, the folder your family can actually find. It is knowing what a home funeral can involve, what a green burial asks of you, and which decisions are yours to make.

And Grace Too is a place to learn all of that in good company — without the hush, the hard sell, or the sense that you should already know.

Three ways in

Start wherever feels possible today.

There is no correct order. Most people move between all three — pick the one that is asking for your attention right now.

  • 01

    Plan Ahead

Put your wishes somewhere findable. Advance directives, representation agreements, the practical checklist — sorted while there is time and no pressure.

  • 02

    Understand Your Options

Green burial, home funerals, cremation, body donation, ceremony without a funeral home. What each one really involves, and what it asks of the people you love.

    Talk About Death

Bring it to the dinner table. Prompts, scripts and gentle structure for the conversations that make everything afterward kinder and clearer.

Featured — in partnership

A green burial is the most ordinary thing:
going back to the ground.

Green burial skips the chemicals and the hardware and lets a body do what bodies have always done. It is legal, it is local, and it can be beautiful. It also protects the land it happens on.

  • No embalming, no concrete vault, no metal casket
  • A shrouded or plainly-cased body, returned to living soil
  • Land that stays wild — mapped, protected and walkable

And Grace Too teaches the how and the why. For sites, plots and the conservation work itself, we point you to our companion project.

About Megan

I do this work because it kept being done badly around me.

I’m a death educator and end-of-life doula on Vancouver Island. I came to it the way most people do — through a death in my own life that was harder than it needed to be, mostly because nobody had said the practical things out loud.

And Grace Too is my attempt to say them: in plain language, with humour where humour fits, and without pretending there is one right way. I teach the courses, host the gatherings, and work alongside the team at GreenBurialCR on conservation burial in the region.
